Terms of Service
Coconut Tree — Last updated May 2026
The short version: Use Coconut Tree for personal lifestyle management. Don't use it to break the law, harm others, or abuse the service. We provide the app as-is — we don't guarantee uptime or that bugs will never happen. If something goes wrong, our liability is limited.
Acceptance of terms
By creating an account or using Coconut Tree ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Coconut Tree. The Service handles financial data, bank account connections, and personal health information that require adult consent. By signing up, you confirm you are 18 or older.
Your account
- You're responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials, including your Google sign-in, app PIN, and any app-specific passwords (such as Apple iCloud).
- You're responsible for all activity under your account.
- If you suspect unauthorized access, sign out immediately and reset your PIN. You can also revoke our access from your Google account settings.
- Don't share your account with others. Coconut Tree is built for personal use; partner sharing happens through invite codes, not shared logins.
What you can use the Service for
Coconut Tree is intended for personal lifestyle management — planning, tracking, and reflecting on your own life. Acceptable uses include:
- Tracking your tasks, habits, goals, calendar events, and journal entries
- Managing your personal budget, debts, and financial recovery
- Logging your menstrual cycle, supplements, and other health data
- Connecting your own calendars, bank accounts, and partner accounts
- Sharing goals and cheering with people you've explicitly invited
What you can't use the Service for
- Anything illegal in your jurisdiction
- Storing or transmitting other people's private data without their permission
- Reverse-engineering, scraping, or attempting to bypass our security measures (encryption, rate limits, RLS policies, PIN lock)
- Probing, scanning, or testing the vulnerability of any system or network without our written permission
- Sending spam, phishing, or unsolicited messages through invite codes or partner sharing
- Building competing services using data scraped from Coconut Tree
- Anything that materially interferes with other users' access to the Service
Third-party services
Coconut Tree integrates with third-party services to provide its features:
By using these features, you also agree to the corresponding third-party terms. We're not responsible for issues caused by these services (outages, policy changes, account suspensions on their side).
Financial information disclaimer
Coconut Tree is not a financial advisor, accountant, attorney, or licensed counselor. Budget categorizations, debt strategies, recovery suggestions, and Crisis Kit content (eviction defense, collections rights, bankruptcy information) are educational tools, not legal or financial advice. For decisions with real-world consequences — legal disputes, bankruptcy filings, court appearances — consult a qualified professional.
Health information disclaimer
Coconut Tree is not a medical device or healthcare provider. Cycle tracking, fertility windows, supplement logs, mood tracking, and astrology readings are for personal reflection — not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Do not rely on Coconut Tree for contraception, conception planning, or symptom diagnosis. Always consult a healthcare provider for medical questions. Cycle predictions are estimates based on your logged data and may be inaccurate.
AI-generated content
The Now AI assistant is powered by Anthropic's Claude. Its responses are generated and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. Use your own judgment before acting on AI suggestions, especially around money, health, legal matters, or relationships. The AI cannot send your private data anywhere except as needed to generate the response (back to you).
Sharing and partners
If you share goals or invite a partner, you're choosing to make that data visible to that person. Once shared, you can unshare a goal at any time, but you can't recall data they may have already seen. Treat invite codes like passwords — only share them with people you trust.
Your content
You retain all rights to the content you create in Coconut Tree (your tasks, goals, journal entries, photos, notes). We don't claim ownership of any of it. We only use your content to operate the Service for you. We never use it for training AI models, advertising, or sharing with third parties beyond what's needed to make the app work.
Service availability
We try to keep Coconut Tree running smoothly, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted access. Maintenance, third-party outages (Supabase, Plaid, Google, Anthropic), bugs, or your own internet connection can affect availability. Coconut Tree is provided "as-is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
Termination
- You can terminate your account anytime from Settings → Wipe All Data, or by deleting all your data and signing out. Deleted data cannot be recovered.
- We can terminate your account if you violate these terms (especially the "What you can't use the Service for" section), if your use creates legal risk, or if we discontinue the Service.
- If we terminate your account for cause, we'll let you export your data first when reasonable.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Coconut Tree and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service — including loss of data, lost profits, missed financial obligations, missed medical appointments, or partner relationship issues. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Service occasionally. If the changes are significant, we'll notify you in the app. Continued use after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts of New York County, New York.
